Not Trump, it's what Obama legacy was used for

E. Ablorh-Odjidja

There is going to be one marker for the Obama presidency. And it is going to be a question about what he did with the legacy that was bequeathed to him.

Hopefully, history would not say he was only useful as a conduit for the “Russian Collusion”charge.

That will be regretful and sad because of all the toil that went before his time.  The “Moses” generation of Blacks would not like.  And the "Joshua" generation would be left to wonder why.

And worse, if the “Russian Collusion” charge turns out to be a scam.

There are two parts of the Russian story.

  1. Russia interference in American politics

  2. Russia colluded with Trump to aid his victory

The first part has to have happened before the second could be possible.  But, apparently the investigators are only interested in the second.  That interest tells its own story.  Shall we say one of bias?

Whether Russia did or not, the behavior would still remain egregious for American patriotic sentiment, prejudices and apprehensions about Russia.

However, there is a conundrum here.  Let the records show that nations like America and Russia are known to interfere in each others elections and those of other nations.

Obama was all over the place with Brexit. And America has not been shy of regime changes in other nations. So had Russia in its sphere of influences like in Eastern Europe.

This sudden hyper interest in Russian interference in 2016 US presidential election should be a head-scratcher..

There was definitely an “interference” as always.  It should not only be confined to 2016.  But who by has not been proven yet, except it is known that the Russians are strongly suspected.

But that there was an "interference' does not necessarily follow that there should, therefore, be a “collusion” charge. Otherwise, such a conclusion recalls a of logical fallacy.

But that logical fallacy is happening. It is started with the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the “Russian Collusion.” And so far, the target has only been Trump, the winner of the 2016 election.

If “Russian Interference” is the starting point of the charge why is Hillary not being investigated? After all, elections are competitive and by nature, at least, binary. It took two to compete in the last election. So where is the Hillary part of the investigations?

By the looks, it is only Trump, his family, business and associates that are currently under investigation. There can be no doubt now that the ssought after target is Trump, the man who to the surprise of the establishment class, unexpectedly won the 2016 presidential election.

Members within both Republican and Democrat parties regard Trump as an upstart. They are hell bent on removing him from the presidency and to change the result of the election.

This collusion to remove a US president from office is the first since Watergate. Some are calling the ongoing effort a soft coup.

And this is where Obama's presidency has been useful. The charge of Russian Collusion started on his watch.

As the predecessor administration, Obama has so far been emotionally more successful with the American public and the world than Trump. He was our Black hope and White guilt. But he delivered far more for others.

Few would want to challenge his suspicions about Trump.

The “Russian Collusion” charge has also been a clever ploy so far. Even if this charge holds, it will have not benefits for Black hope or dream.

For years, America has been suspicion of all things Russia. The suspicion has provided a lot of buoyancy to the American patriotic. The Russians must have done it. True or false, who would dare challenge the assertion and risk being labeled unpatriotic?

And for those Republicans who hate Trump, the Russian connection, whether true or false, gives a very nice cover. They are patriots, they seem to signal.

The Russian charge has been repeated so often that it has become a fact for many; of course, without evidence.

Initially, it was given sixteen national intelligence sources as authority. It turned out that only three of them associate with the suspicion, chief among these is the FBI.

The only news about computer hacking during the 2016 campaign was at the DNC headquarters. The FBI has yet to inspect the hacked computer for evidence of Russian interference!

But no matter. The charge has so far created a band wagon effect. The investigation is gathering steam. The beautiful people of Hollywood and the media are on it. Liberal academia have joined them, together with the Trump derangement crowd.

And the self-assured people of gravitas or the seekers of opportunity to bash America constantly are too happy to become fellow travelers.

America, they have agreed, cannot be great because Trump has said so. Many already, like Obama, had expressed the belief that she cannot be exceptional. America is a capitalist nation that was built on slavery and white supremacy. In short, America is evil and it cannot be great.

The Russian story is going to be the most talked about item of the Obama's era. Undoubtedly, the story, faked or not, found the most convenient and fertile grounds during his term..

Unfortunately, it is not going to help the Black legacy.
