Prez Mills meets senior editors for talks
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot
Accra, March, Ghanadot - During
the campaign of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in
the just ended 2008 elections, Professor Evans Atta Mills,
now the president outlined some pertinent problems his
government would tackle should the people of Ghana vote him
into power.
Five months ago, the people of Ghana spoke and the NDC won
power from the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Ninety-eight (98)
days after being sworn into office, the President will today
meet with senior editors and reporters of various media
houses to interact with them and also outline policies of
the way forward to them.
Mr. Mahama Ayariga, Presidential Secretary of the Mills
administration, in an interview disclosed that the meeting
is more of open discussion rather then a press conference.
He said, President Mills wants to give opportunity to the
press to ask questions about what he has been able to do so
far since he became the president, and also create the
opportunity where questions could be asked if there are
other issues.
In addition, Mr. Ayariga stated that ministers of state
would be available for the press to have various discussions
about things that are happening in their various sectors.
When asked that Ghanaians are developing some perceptions
that things have been slow with the President's 100 days
promise, Mr. Mahama Ayariga said the 100 days have not yet
ended so Ghanaians should be patient, adding that the 2008
election saw a transition from the NPP to the NDC thus there
is more to be done.
He also related the current financial crunch in the world to
be one of the reasons why people are beginning to feel that
the NDC has been slow to getting things done.
Mr Ayariga hinted, he believes that the NDC has been faster
than the NPP when they were in power. He said in terms of
what is expected from a person, President Mills has
relatively functioned.
