Audrey Micah, Ghanadot
Accra, March 5, Ghanadot -
Vincent Yegbe was born 20th March 1976 at Akatsi in
the Volta Region of Ghana. His interest in arts was
realised as a little boy even before he started his
primary and secondary education at Wute also in the
Volta Region where he exhibited his artistic skills
which won him a lot of awards at school.
Yegbe continued to
pursue a course in Arts (Painting and spraying) at
Senyo Arts at Ho which is now an arts college.
There, he built on his desire of becoming one of
Ghana's acclaimed painters. He won several awards
from the African sub-region including taking the
first position in a regional competition in Ghana.
Now he does abstract
paintings with acrylic and oil colours on canvas,
pots and many others through which he expresses his
feelings and ideas to the world.
With a harmonious selection of colours,
mixtures of paint to make
different hues of colour,
he is able to make his composition express
meaning to his patrons.
His reasoning is that each
art piece must tell it
all.
With the help of very good friends, he has held many
successful exhibitions both at
home and in several parts of the world
including Europe, America and various parts of
Africa.
To him arts is a medium of expression of one's ideas
and feelings. He takes inspiration from children who
he says inspire him a lot. Many who come across his
paintings directly understands him.
Vincent knows his works inspires people a lot. Thus
he takes enough time to work his
art pieces to perfection.
"Art is my life and as important to me as the air I
breathe".
He is usually referred to as "the man who lets
colours talk for themselves".
