Soccer fan in protective custody

Kpando, (V/R), Feb. 28, GNA - The anticipated tensed Premier league encounter between Kpando Heart of Lions and Kumasi Asante Kotoko at Kpando on (Wednesday) this afternoon has already got a victim, one Eric Gyamfi who is said to be a Kotoko fan.

Gyamfi is presently in Police protective custody in Kpando for allegedly bribing some key players of Lions.

Lions beat Kotoko 1-0 in their first leg encounter at Konongo, the first defeat suffered by Kotoko in their adopted home described as Kotoko's "Waterloo" thus setting the tone for a high pitched encounter at Kpando this afternoon.

Mr. William Akpesey, Police Superintendent in charge of the Kpando District Police told the GNA Sports on Wednesday, that William Akwensi, Welfare Officer of Heart of Lions brought Gyamfi to the Police station on Tuesday.

He said Akwensi told the Police that Gyamfi was arrested while trying to bribe some players of Lions including the captain, Yussif Issah "to play it soft with Kotoko in today's match".

Mr. Akpesey said an amount of 3.9 million cedis was found on Gyamfi.
He however said the Police could not talk to the players involved as the team was said to have moved to a secret camp to prepare for today's crucial match.
