Weather helps RTU to beat Hasaacas

Tamale, March 22, Ghanadot/GNA - "The Cobra they say is not poisonous to its kind but it poisonous to any other kind of snake". This is precisely what the heat in the North did to the players of visiting Sekondi Hasaacas in their Premier League match against Real Tamale United (RTU) at the Kaladan Park, Tamale on Wednesday.

The Hasmal boys frequently had to run to the touchline for water to cool themselves because of the over-bearing heat and to cool their systems while the RTU lads were at home with the heat and continued to dictate the pace of the game.

The two teams however entertained the football fans to beautiful and eye pleasing football.

No wonder the intense weather paid for the homesters when in the seventh minute of the game they earned a penalty which Peter Yakubu converted for the only goal of the match.

The penalty came following a sustained pressure by RTU on the visitors and a hard pressed defender of Hasmal handled the ball resulting in a penalty, which was skillfully converted to register the goal to end the first-half.

Back from recess, both teams showed their determination to carry the day, but erratic shooting upfront especially by the RTU strikers denied them of more goals.
Much of the game was in the second half was played in the midfield with occasional counter attacks from the flanks by both teams but these were wasted due to poor shooting upfront.

Both teams made three substitutions each as the result of the heat but the changes failed to yield any dividends or change the pattern of game till the final whistle.
