The New Abortion Law in New York State
E. Ablorh-Odjidja
January 26, 2019

New York is a very deep, Democrat blue state; a place that is home, undoubtedly, for vast collection of people from the Black world.

It is also home for the accepted leader of most Black liberals, the renown Rev. Al Sharpton.

So how come the alarm has not been sounded that the new abortion bill for the state may do injury to Black interest?

New York state, with the support of Governor Cuomo, speedily passed this bill, on the convenient excuse to safeguard women’s health, that made late term abortion up to nine months legal.

To date, our esteemed Black preacher, Al Sharpton, has not called this bill racist, even though the intent is not obscure.

The possibility of genocide with the bill cries out the intent of Margaret Sanger, the mother of Planned Parenthood.

Margaret Sanger had a plan to save American civilization. She said the plan would prevent the “unfit” from procreation.

Americans of African origin were part of the "unfit." She thereafter went on to help found Planned Parenthood, with the support of some leaders from Black churches of the era.

It is now legal for our women to kill our babies at any point in the gestation cycle in New York state.

Nine months used to be the mark when a fully formed human being was ready to enter the world via the birth canal. No more. It could be a point of entry as a scrape into the medical waste can.

This was what Governor Cuomo of New York State affirmed at the signing of the bill.

Cuomo, a liberal democrat and a Catholic couldn’t give a fig about human life.

This sanctimonious Governor has opposed President Trump, with glee and moral contempt rolled into one. He is one among the many white liberals who constantly and shrilly call Trump, another white but conservative, a racist.

Governor Cuomo supports Planned Parenthood.

Planned Parenthood detests all things Trump; heavily protested at his inauguration and opposed his nominee, now Supreme Court Justice, Brett Kavanaugh.

Justice Kavanaugh was seen  as a threat to Roe v. Wade (1973), a Supreme Court decision which granted women’s right to choose abortion.

Liberals have insisted since that time that it was a woman’s right to choose to or not abort.

Men were only here to provide pleasure and foot the bill. But, regardless, some have maintained that a woman’s right to choose abortion should not lead to Black genocide.

Or allow a Black woman, who happens to live in the bluest of the blue state of America, NY, to put a hold on the growth of the race by a legal bill that regards fetuses as pieces of bloody glob that could latch on to the female's womb.

So now, who will be human after nine months of gestation?

It has been noted since Roe v. Wade 1973 that “More than 19 million Black babies have been aborted.

Currently, Black abortion rate stands at 4 times that of whites within the measured population.

According to CDC report, "while Black women make up only six percent of the U.S. population, they account for 35 percent of abortions reported.”

Same matrix projected under this New York state law will mean more Black babies will be victims.

Today's Black population stands at 38,929,319 million and forms 12.61% of the nation's population, whereas the Hispanic population is at 58.9 million, 17.8% of population - and rising as the nation's largest racial minority group in 2017.

Jesse Jackson, a Black democrat leader, asked in 1977 that, “What happens to the mind of a person, and the moral fabric of a nation, that accepts the aborting of the life of a baby without a pang of conscience?”

Unfortunately, Jesse Jackson has been silent on the issue of aborted babies, ever since he wrote his opinion piece.

And, it is needless to point out to him that at the time of Roe v. Wade, Blacks were the the majority of the minority groups since he is part of the vocal liberal group that supports abortion.  The Black population since Roe v. Wade has been experiencing slow growth. Hispanics, who at the time of Roe v. Wade , are numbered about 8,920,940 to 22,539,362 for Blacks, have surged to the top.

Zoe Dutton, writing for The Atlantic in 2014, in an article titled “Abortion's Racial Gap,” noted the abortion disparity in a racially diverse society such as the United States.

She asked “Even as the U.S. abortion rate is at its lowest since Roe v. Wade, women of color are five times as likely to terminate a pregnancy as their white counterparts. Why?”

All kinds of responses have since come from scholars to explain the disparity. But, one fact stuck out in her article.

Even when a controlling factor for income was used in the abortion stats, Blacks still came higher at every point of the scale.

She cited in this article comment by a Christine Dehlendorf, a professor of family and community medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). The citation brings us closer to the truth as related to abortion statistics of the US today.

“There are a multitude of reasons, and we don’t fully understand what’s going on,” Dehlendorf said. “But ultimately I think it’s about structural determinants— economic reasons, issues related to racism, differences in opportunities, differences in social and historical context.”

Some of us do understand the causes for these structural determinants, so we do not attribute the ill-effects of them to one political party alone.

We never choose Republicans as racists. We know racism is exogenous and could come from any party.

Liberal policies developed to help Blacks cannot be excluded from racist intent.

The so-called good liberal policies do often have unintended consequences - most of them. And they have helped to form parts of the negative structural determinants surrounding Blacks over the years.

We have welcomed sugar-coated pill policies in many forms; including the welfare state advanced by liberals.

Our failure to understand fully this fact, this late, is as much to blame as the exogenous racism that comes to us from the general society that oppresses us.

And now, the illustrative point has been reached with the new abortion bill. The Black population can be controlled, voluntarily through the welfare system.  Productive lives and breathtaking new talents can be wasted through this abortion plan in New York state, without anybody's awareness and willingness to cry genocide.

The death count in New York state will be hidden as in-state stats are not reported to the Federal government.

Ask why, and the answer could be anybody’s guess.

All the same, welcome to the brave new world of New York state.
