Nana Addo's Office
April 26, 2014
AKUFO-ADDO DENIES DAILY POST
STORY
Our attention has been drawn, yet again, to a story published in
the Friday, April 25, 2014, edition of the Daily Post Newspaper
with the banner headline, “Lord Commey pummelled by Akufo-Addo’s
bodyguards.”
According to the pro-NDC newspaper, the former National
Organiser of the New Patriotic Party “received the most severe
beatings of his life” from the bodyguards of Nana Akufo-Addo,
for “failing to give to delegates monies given to him by
godfathers in the Akufo-Addo camp to be given to the delegates
at the just ended delegates’ conference at Tamale.”
The Office of Nana Akufo-Addo wishes to reiterate emphatically
and unequivocally that no such thing, as described by the paper,
has ever happened at the gates of Nana Akufo-Addo’s house, or
will such a criminal and despicable act ever happen there.
In addition, no money or any form of inducement was given to
Laud Commey by Nana Akufo-Addo or “god fathers in the Akufo-Addo
camp” for delegates at the Tamale conference, with the aim of
swaying delegates’ votes to favour any one candidate or a set of
candidates.
We wish to state that the content of the story, which has been
subsequently reproduced on some online media platforms, is a
blatant lie and should be disregarded.
It has become evidently clear that the shameless agenda of some
newspapers situated in the bosom of the ruling NDC government is
to fabricate and peddle falsehoods about Nana Akufo-Addo, in the
hope of trying to divert attention from the ailing and failing
Better Ghana Agenda, which has so far been characterised by
incompetence and economic hardships. Ghanaians are discerning
and know better
Once again, we urge the general public not to give any credence
to this story.
