Press Release
Office of Alan Kyerematen
September 30, 2014
THE GRASSROOTS ARE THE
CHAMPIONS OF OUR CAMPAIGNS - ALAN
KEYEREMATEN DECLARES AS HE COMPLETES HIS
NORTHERN SECTOR TOUR
Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen has completed
his 7 days grassroots tour of the northern
part of the country in his bid to seek the
mandate of the delegates in the 18th October
NPP Presidential primary.
He said that he has always championed the
cause of the polling station officers and
electoral area coordinators even at a time
when they did not have a voting right in the
party’s presidential primary election. |
|
Speaking to the delegates
in the Upper East, Upper West and Northern
region, he said ‘’In 2007, my opponents gave
me the name Alan Cash which later became a
blessing to me because I was inviting you
the polling station officers to my meetings
though you were not expected to vote. They
believed that I was wasting my time and
resources on you, however, I saw things
differently, that is why I was the only
candidate among the 17 to have visited and
invited you to my meetings’’.
He added, ‘’ I have always held that the
grassroots members of our party are those
who actually do the door to door and other
grounds campaigning during elections and
therefore must be given the necessary
recognition and importance, especially if we
are serious about winning political power’’.
Alan Kyerematen visited all the
constituencies in the three northern regions
of the country to meet with the grassroots
members and delegates of our party.
In most constituencies he visited, the
polling station officers who came in their
numbers were unanimous in assuring him of
their votes amidst chants of ‘Alan, this is
your time’’.
During the tour, Mr. Alan Kyerematen took
the opportunity to visit certain Chiefs like
the Yagbonwura, the overlord of Gonja, the
King of the Mamprugu traditional area,
Bolinlana, the regent of the late Ya-Na
Mahamadu Abdulaia among others.
They gave him their blessings and prayed for
him and his entourage.
Also, whiles on the tour, he attended
funeral ceremonies of some electoral area
coordinators and other members of the party
who were bereaved.
Alan Kyerematen was accompanied on his tour
by Hon. Kofi Dzamesi, his campaign manager
and former Minister for Volta region, Hon.
Charles Bintim, former Minister for local
government, Nana Ohene Ntow, former NPP
General-Secretary, Hon. John Dough, former
MP for Lambuisie, Yaw Mort, former NPP Upper
East regional organizer, Michael, former NPP
