Mills has failed us, Sunyani residents declare

The people of Sunyani and its environs have expressed disappointment in the leadership style of President Mills, accusing him and his government of gross incompetence and insensitivity, which they say has led to untold hardships and suffering.

They explain that the president has broken all the promises he made to them when he was campaigning in 2008, making the better Ghana he promised them a mirage.

Kwesi Atta, 34, intimated "the NDC government has totally neglected us and failed to pay attention to our plights. The president promised to reduce taxes and tariffs as well as the prices of food stuffs and goods but the opposite is what has happened under his watch. Prices of goods, food stuffs, taxes and tariffs have all gone up drastically."

These were among many other concerns brought to the attention of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Flagbearer, Nana Akufo-Addo, when he toured the Sunyani East and West contituencies Tuesday and Wednesday respectively.

In the Sunyani East constituency, the NPP Flagbearer toured communities such as Adedaase, Atuahene, Nwowasu, Atronie, Antwikrom, Nsagobesa, Kurasua, Nwawasua and the Sunyani township.

At Adidase, Badu, a 56 year old farmer said "Nana the cocoa mass spraying no longer works effectively in our community. All the social interventions that were introduced by the President Kufuor administration are all collapsing under the watch of President Mills." citing School Feeding Programme and National Health Insurance Scheme to support his claim.

Similar concerns were brought to Nana Addo's attention when he toured all the other communities with the collapsing coca mass spraying exercise running through all the concerns.

In the Sunyani West constituency, the NPP Flagbearer toured communities such as Kobedi, Asuakwaa, Chiraa, Bofourkrom, Kwatire, Tainso, Adoye, Odumase, Kwabenakumakrom, Koduakrom, Nsuatre, Ayakomaso, Domasua and Fiapre.

At Kobedi, Adjei noted "life has become very difficult under the leadership of President Mills and his government. He promised a better Ghana but has so far delivered a bitter one. We are suffering and in 2012 we will show President Mills and his NDC the exit."

The atmosphere at Fiapre,Chiraa, Odumase and Nsuatre  was highly charged when Nana Addo took his listening tour to those areas. Residents expressed joy and excitement at the arrival of Nana Addo amidst singing and dancing. The promised to vote massively for Nana Addo to ensure the return of the NPP in 2012.

They also complained about the collapsing mass cocoa spraying exercise. They note that “the NDC has showed that they are incompetent and an insensitive government because they are aware that cocoa farming is what we live on and ye they are deliberately collapsing all the good interventions that President Kufuor’s administration introduced to improve production and increase our earnings.”
