PRESS RELEASE
NPP
September 10, 2014
Constitutional and
Legal Committee making rounds in the media
The attention of the National Headquarters of the
NPP has been drawn to a report from the chairman of
the Constitutional and Legal Committee making rounds
in the media and wish to state emphatically as
follows;
1.Neither the Steering Committee, National Executive
Committee nor National Council has referred the
matter at issue to the constitutional and legal
committee.
2. In good faith and in accordance with Article 9B
(5) of the NPP constitution, any report of any
standing committee should duly be submitted to the
Steering Committee for consideration. This was not
the case.
3. Assuming without admitting that the matter was
even referred to the constitutional and legal
committee, they could only proffer an opinion for
consideration. That opinion can only be advisory and
not mandatory.
4. Publication of this unsolicited opinion on a
purely administrative matter, is improper, an
anomaly and a gross abuse of due process in our
party.
We urge all to disregard the said publication with
all the contempt it deserves.

have urged -- depending upon where they stand
ideologically -- smaller class sizes, more
accountability, merit pay for teachers and
educational choice. Each year seems to bring a new
fad: child-centered learning, new math, cooperative
learning and so forth. ......More

Exchanges on Mother Tongue
as tool for teaching basic grades
Commentary, Sept 08, Ghanadot -
I am not averse to starting a child in a mother
tongue. But which one
is it going to be in a multi-tongue region? How do
we effect comprehension in the chosen language,
which may be as much a handicap to the child as the
English? And since, ultimately we are coming back to
the English anyway, don't you think this exercise
will only be a detour?..... More

be jailed for 2 years; lawyer discovers
Joy, Sept 09, Ghanadot - Former chairman of NPP's
Constitutional and Legal Affairs Nii Ayikoi Otoo has
tumbled on a law that has eluded the entire judiciary
during Ghana’s landmark election petition....The law
details criminal prosecution for Presiding Officers who
do not sign against election results ......Hitherto, it
had been assumed that there is no law to punish erring
presiding officers with civil society organisations,
lawyers, and judges calling for laws to sanction erring
officers....More |
