XENOPHOBIC ATTACKS IN SA: PRESIDENT MAHAMA CLUELESS

As four more Ghanaians die in SA, President Mahama has no plan to protect his citizens.

There is no doubt that the xenophobic attack of South Africans against fellow Africans is condemnable and rightly so the world has condemned the acts. Beyond the words and threat of sanctions by the world, Ghanaian lives are at stake. Reports reaching AFAG confirms that, not less than five Ghana lives have been lost.

Fellow Ghanaians, the NDC government and the Ghana Mission in SA have neither put in place concrete measures nor communicated any measures of protection to the many Ghanaians resident in SA.

It is our firm belief that, this lack of action amounts to negligence and recklessness on the part of the Mahama government.

AFAG therefore, in the spirit of patriotism and the protection of Ghanaian lives in SA calls on the government to outline practical and commonsensical steps the government is or has put in place to protect and rescue Ghanaians trapped in the xenophobic madness currently sweeping across SA.

Furthermore AFAG urges the gov to summon the SA ambassador to Ghana to register our displeasure and direct the same to communicate any such intended economic consequences to her gov. As a show of seriousness of government, the ambassador and key essential staff should be expelled from the country.

Through ECOWAS, President Mahama should push for travel ban of the Zulu king, president Zuma and his cabinet ministers, the head of the SA police and top government officials. There should an option for economic sanctions of South African business on the table

AFAG is hopeful that, this government would value Ghanaian lives and take the necessary actions to protect Ghanaian lives and businesses in South Africa.
