Sekou Nkrumah to head National Youth Council
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot

Accra, May 18, Ghanadot - Sekou Nkrumah, son of Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah has been appointed the new Acting National Coordinator of the National Youth Council (NYC).

A statement from the National Secretariat of the National Youth Council and signed by its Public Relations Officer (PRO) Sarah Obeng, said Dr. Sekou Nkrumah has a big desire to put on a pedestal the state of the youth leadership and skills training institute, as well as the youth resource centres of the country.

He replaces the current Acting Coordinator of the Council, Mr. Archibald Donkoh who has reverted to his former position as the Deputy National Coordinator, Finance and Administration of the NYC.

Dr. Nkrumah is a PhD holder in African Literature from the University of Bucharest, Romania. According to the release, he is determined that, through his first steps at the NYC, he will increase the rate of public awareness of youth activities, as well as promote private sector participation in Youth Development.

He is the founder of Youth and Sports Development non-governmental organization, a former Vice Chairman of the Ghana Chess Association, and former Executive Director at the WEB Dubois Memorial Centre for Pan African Culture. Dr. Nkrumah hopes to use his position to develop a strong and disciplined youth imbued with the spirit of nationalism and sense of public service.

Sekou Nkrumah joined the NDC in April
2007 after defecting from his mother party the CPP.
