AKUFO-ADDO TOURS FLOOD AREAS OF ACCRA

The flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Nana Akufo-Addo, has toured some flood ravaged areas of Accra and the Kokompe spare parts market, which was destroyed by fire weeks ago.

Nana Addo visits flooded areas, Ghanadot

The NPP flagbearer, who was in Germany when the disaster occurred, visited places like Lido, Tip-toe lane, Avenor, the Neoplan Station area of the Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Caprice, Odorna and Kokompe to see the extent of damage and also sympathise with affected victims.

At Odorna, Nana Addo visited the family of Lawrence Sewordor Morgah, a 30-year-old trader, who was electrocuted during the floods. He sympathised with the bereaved family and encouraged them to remain strong in these trying times.

Many of the affected people expressed disappointment in the government authorities especially NADMO, for not providing them with any assistance since the flood destroyed belongings week ago.   Those displaced by the floods together with onlookers could however not hide their excitement at the sight of the man tipped by many to win the elections of 2012.

Nana Addo, who was obviously not amused by the extent of damage caused by the floods, sympathised with affected victims and called on government authorities, especially NADMO, to quickly provide the necessary assistance to the victims to ensure that life returns to normal for all of them.

He also called on the government to re-engineer the drainage systems of the capital, especially in areas that have now become perennial flood areas. This he said will allow easy passage of water during heavy downpours and hopefully bring to an end the matter of flooding in Accra and other parts of the country.

The flood, which hit several parts of the capital two weeks ago, killed 12 persons and displaced thousands.

After visiting many of the places that were hit by the recent floods, the NPP flagbearer stopped over at the Kokompe spare parts market which was recently razed down by fire.

Nana Addo and the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Joe Appiah pledged GH¢10,000  and 200 bags of cement towards the reconstruction of the Kokompe Spare Parts Market.

The leadership of the Kokompe market thanked Nana Addo for the support to help rebuild the market and wished him well in all his future endeavors.

Nana Addo was accompanied by his Campaign Manager, Boakye Agyarko, Director of Operations, Lord Commey, Greater Accra Regional Chaiman of the NPP, Mr. Ishmail Ashittey, MP for Ayawaso Central, Sheikh I. C Quaye, MP for Okaikoi North, Elizabeth Sacket, MP for Ablekuma North, Joe Appiah and aide Samuel Abu Jinapor.                       DEVELOPMENT IN FREEDOM
