Akufo-Addo appeals for support from Krobos

Somanya, April 23, Ghanadot/GNA - Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, Presidential Candidate of New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Tuesday appealed to Krobos to change their voting pattern and vote for the NPP in this year’s general elections.

“The party would surely retain power come December 7 and it would be appropriate for you also to be part of the winning team,” he added.

Nana Akufo-Addo made the appeal at Somanya in the Yilo Krobo Constituency where he began a tour of the Eastern Region.

Addressing a rally at Somanya lorry park, he said Krobos since 1992 had voted for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), rejecting the NPP entirely due to some misconception they had about the Party.

Nana Akufo-Addo said the relationship between Akyems and Krobos dated back in the 19th Century and no NPP Government would ever think of taking away Krobos’ lands from them.

He said the performance of President John Agyekum Kufour and the NPP Government was a clear manifestation that the country was moving forward and that another eight years for them would see Ghana moving into a new direction of prosperity.

Nana Akufo-Addo said this year’s elections should not be considered as do and die affair and therefore, urged Ghanaians to reject any political party that would preach violence during the campaign period.

He said Ghanaians could not afford to lose the peace they were enjoying now.

Mr Yaw Osafo-Maafo, Former Minister for Finance and Economic Planning, Education, Science and Sports said the choice of Nana Akufo-Addo as the leader of the party was in the right direction.

He said Nana Akufo-Addo would surely write a new political history in Ghana come December 7 by taking over as President “in the name of the NPP from an NPP Government”.

Mr Osafo-Maafo urged supporters of the Party to close their ranks and work hard for the Party to increase their Parliamentary seats and the Presidential votes.

Nana Akufo-Addo earlier addressed similar rallies at Odumase and Asesewa.
