I'm disappointed in gov't-Kwesi Pratt Jr.
Audrey Micah, Ghanadot
Accra, June 8, Ghanadot - Kwesi
Pratt Jr. a leading member of the political pressure group,
Committee for Joint Action and the Managing Editor of the
Insight newspaper has disclosed his disappointment in the
NDC government, saying there is no justification for the
Mills-led government to increase prices of petroleum
products by 30 per cent.
Speaking on Radio Gold over the weekend, Mr. Pratt said his
confidence in the government is gradually eroding as
promises made to Ghanaians are not been met.
According to him, petroleum pricing was a major issue in the
last election and the consensus was that the prices could be
kept lower. To him, it was not right for the government to
win the mandate of the people based on a promise to reduce
prices of fuel, only to turn around and behave the same way
the previous government was behaving.
“You cannot continue to behave the way you are behaving.”
Mr. Pratt expressed fear that if the current government
fails to live up to expectation, there could doom for the
country’s development.
“President Mills was the most credible person in the last
elections and in fact I wish this government well.”
In a related development, though directives have come from
the Ghana Road Transport Coordinating Council that drivers
who operate on short distance routes, popularly known as
‘trotro’ not to increase fares of destinations where they
charge 10Gp or 15Gp, many of them are reluctant to do so.
This morning many commuters had to fight with 'mates' before
getting their right changes, according to drivers since they
did not increase their fares when fuel was increased last
year, they do so this year whether right or wrong.
