President John Evans Atta Mills has
expressed concern about the traffic situation in Accra
and other urban centres as he begins his tour of Greater
Accra Region and has asked road engineers and the city
planners to collaborate with the government to find a
lasting solution to the problem.
He expressed the
concern when he inspected progress of work on the Accra
Polo Grounds-Spintex Road Bypass and the Tetteh
Quarshie-Pantang Road.
The President was however
happy with the progress of work so far and appealed to
the contractors to finish on the scheduled date.
Briefing the President on the Polo Grounds-Spintex
Road project, the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA)
Director of Roads, Abbas Awuni said work is progressing
as scheduled with 75% of the work completed.
He
assured the public that the $ 38m Accra Polo
Grounds-Spintex Road project will be completed on
schedule.
The three-day tour of the Greater
Accra Region will see the President inaugurate completed
projects, cut sod for new ones and also inspect ongoing
projects.
It is the eighth region to be toured
by President Mills since the beginning of the year.
